Privacy Policy

JobBadger LLC (“JobBadger,” “we,” “us”) builds crew-management software for field-service businesses — a web dashboard for the office and a mobile app for crews and managers. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. Who this policy covers

JobBadger is a business-to-business tool. Companies (“Businesses”) sign up and invite their office staff, managers, and field crew (“Users”). For information Users generate on the job, the employing Business is the data controller and JobBadger is its service provider — we process that data on the Business’s behalf and under its instructions.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what the product needs to function:

  • Account information — name, email address, phone number, job role, profile photo, and a password managed by our authentication provider. Crew accounts are created by invitation from a Business.
  • Location data — when a User clocks in, the mobile app records GPS location to verify on-site time, power the office live map, and flag off-site activity. See “Location data” below for the specifics.
  • Photos and video — jobsite documentation that crews capture in the app, stored with a GPS and time stamp as proof of work.
  • Work data — jobs, job sites, schedules, tasks, materials, equipment, time entries, and field notes.
  • Messages — in-app chat between crew and office about a job.
  • Device and notification data — a push-notification token and basic device information so we can deliver alerts.
  • Website analytics — first-party visit counts on our marketing site (page and referrer). We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
  • Diagnostics — limited technical logs used to keep the service reliable and secure.

3. Location data (mobile app)

Location is the most sensitive data we handle, so we are specific about it:

  • We collect location only while a User is clocked in to a shift. Clocking out stops location collection.
  • Background location (while the app is not open) is used so a crew member’s time and live-map position stay accurate without keeping the screen on. The app discloses this and requests your permission first.
  • Location is visible to the User’s own Business (their managers and office) — never to other Businesses or the public.
  • We do not sell location data and we do not use it for advertising.
  • You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; time tracking that depends on it will be limited accordingly.

4. How we use information

  • Provide the service — scheduling, dispatch, time tracking, documentation, messaging, and the live map.
  • Send operational notifications (a new job, a time-off decision, a message).
  • Keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot problems.
  • Provide optional AI-assisted features (for example, extracting fields from an uploaded invoice) using the third-party processor named below.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your work data or messages to train advertising profiles.

5. How we share information

We share information only with service providers (“subprocessors”) that help us run JobBadger, each bound to protect it and use it only for our instructions:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Vercel — application hosting.
  • Resend — transactional and notification email.
  • Apple & Google — push-notification delivery (APNs / Firebase Cloud Messaging) and, on Android, map display (Google Maps).
  • Anthropic — AI processing for optional assist features; content sent for these features is not used to train models.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or as part of a business transfer. Within a Business, information is shared among that Business’s authorized users according to their role.

6. Text messages (SMS) to a Business’s customers

A Business may use JobBadger to send its own customers transactional text messages about a booked job: “crew on the way,” appointment reminders, and job-complete notices. These messages are sent on the Business’s behalf through our SMS provider (Twilio).

  • Consent. Messages go only to customers who gave the Business their mobile number for service updates (by phone, on the Business’s booking form, or on a work order) and whose consent the Business recorded on the job. JobBadger itself does not collect recipients’ numbers.
  • Message frequency varies by job and is typically 1–3 messages per scheduled visit. It is not a subscription or a recurring program.
  • Message and data rates may apply according to the recipient’s carrier plan.
  • Opt-out. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts; reply HELP for help. Opt-out is honored immediately and applies to all future messages from that Business through JobBadger.
  • No sharing. Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent collected for text messaging are used only to deliver these messages. We do not sell them, and we do not share them with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. They are shared only with our SMS delivery provider as needed to send the message.

7. Data retention

We keep information for as long as a Business maintains its account, and as needed to provide the service and meet legal, tax, and dispute-resolution obligations. When an account is closed, we delete or de-identify the associated data within a commercially reasonable period, unless retention is required by law.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Access and correction — view and update your profile in the app; ask us for a copy of your data.
  • Deletion — you may delete your account and associated personal data. Request it in-app or email support@jobbadger.app. Where your data is controlled by your employer (the Business), we will direct the request to them.
  • Notifications — turn push notifications on or off in your device settings.
  • Location — grant or revoke location permission in your device settings at any time.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example, under U.S. state privacy laws) to access, correct, delete, or limit the use of your personal information. Contact us to exercise them; we will not discriminate against you for doing so.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is scoped to each Business, and internal access is limited to what is needed to operate and support the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify affected users and Businesses of material incidents as required by law.

10. Children

JobBadger is a workplace tool intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
